Box Score 2 BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Friday was a tough start to the Alvy Early Tournament for Griffon Softball, losing to two teams who are a combined 7-2 on the season.
Game 1
Missouri Western lost its first matchup against the University of Illinois-Springfield 5-3. It was the Prairie Stars' (2-0) first game of 2022 and first time meeting MWSU (2-5) since the Griffons took two-out-of-three from UIS back in March of 2020.
Game 2
The Griffons lost 4-1 to Harding to end today's doubleheader. Missouri Western was down 3-0 in the bottom of the first when senior Emma Hoffart hacked a home run to get the Griffons on the board. Redshirt junior pitcher Kelly Uthe started the game and gave her team six innings of work with four strikeouts but five walks. Sophomore Sydney Rader pitched the final inning and struck out two Bison.

The doubleheader action is back on in Arkansas with game three of the Alvy Early Tournament against #16 Southern Arkansas (2-5) at 11 a.m. The Griffons follow that by playing the University Missouri-St.Louis (0-0) at 1 p.m.
