Connie Clarke and
Will Eames after both of their teams swept last week's competition.
MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week – Connie Clarke – Missouri Western
Connie Clarke led the Griffons in scoring last week in Missouri Western's two wins over William Jewell and Avila. In MWSU's 105-61 win over the Cardinals, Clarke scored 21 points in 20 minutes of action and collected 12 rebounds in the process for her third double-double of the season. In the 94-36 win against Avila, Clarke put up 18 points in 18 minutes, shooting 8-of-8 from the field. This makes her just the fourth-ever Griffon to shoot 100 percent with eight or more shots in a game. She averaged 19.5 points per game and 8 rebounds per game, turning the ball over only four times to eight assists and seven steals of her own.
MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week – Will Eames – Missouri Western
Will Eames led the Griffons in scoring last week in wins over Rockhurst and Avila. Eames notched game-highs of 19 points and eight rebounds, setting a new season-high for himself in points scored. He also dished out a season-best four assists in MWSU's 82-46 win over the Hawks. Eames followed up with a 12-point outing in the Griffons' 62-45 win over Avila, grabbing six rebounds in the process. The junior shot well from three on the week overall, making 4-of-7 from deep, shooting 2-of-3 against Rockhurst and 2-of-4 against Avila.
NOTABLE WOMEN'S PERFORMANCES
Courtney Lee – Northeastern State
Courtney Lee averaged nearly a double-double last week, shooting 84.2 percent from the field while turning in her second 20-point performance of the year. The sophomore made her first eight shot attempts in the RiverHawks 81-78 win over Fort Smith to finish with 19 points in the game. The sophomore followed that up with a 21-point, 10-rebound game in an 81-58 win at home against Haskell.
Karenna Gerber – Pittsburg State
Kareena Gerber posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds in Pittsburg State's 95-63 home win over Saint Mary. The Halstead, Kan., native made eight of 11 shots from the field, shooting 72.7 percent. She also added two assists and a steal in the contest.
Brittney Ho – Newman
Brittney Ho tied her career high of 25 points in Newman's 40-point win over Central Christian last week. The senior played in 20 minutes of action, shooting 61 percent from the field. She made 11 shots and finished perfect from the free throw line. Ho's 25 points brings her season average to 21 ppg.
Tangee Gagau – Rogers State
Tangee Gagau led the Hillcats to a 2-0 record in their first two home games of the season. In the Hillcats 78-30 rout of Randall, the freshman put up 12 points with seven rebounds, an assist and a steal. In the 77-39 blowout win over Oklahoma Wesleyan, Gagau led all scorers with 16 points with two assists and a rebound.

NOTABLE MEN'S PERFORMANCES
Kaleb Hammeke – Fort Hays State
Kaleb Hammeke led the Tigers in scoring in both victories at home this past week. The sophomore had 10 points in a balanced scoring effort by the Tigers against Central Christian, then scored 22 against Manhattan Christian. Hammeke had 17 of his 22 against MCC by halftime. He also averaged 6.0 assists per game for the week, helping FHSU finish non-conference play 5-1.
Sherwyn Devonish-Price Jr. – Rogers State
Sherwyn Devonish-Prince Jr. led the Hillcats to a 2-0 week averaging 15.0 points per game. In the Hillcats 93-82 win over Southwestern Christian, the senior put up 14 points with seven assists and three rebounds. In an 71-53 upset victory over East Central, Devonish-Prince Jr. added another 16 points with four rebounds, two assists and a steal. He also shot 9-for-12 from the free throw line across both games.
Garrett Luinstra – Central Missouri
Garrett Luinstra helped the Mules to a 2-0 record this past week with wins over Missouri Valley (78-71) and Central Christian (112-35). Luinstra averaged 24.3 minutes, 15.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 rebounds per contest.
