ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Talk about being sending yourself off on Senior Day in style.
Griffon Football said goodbye to 11 seniors and the 2022-23 season with a 41-0 victory over Lincoln on Saturday at Spratt Stadium. One senior made sure to rewrite the history books before left, as running back Titus McCoy tore up Lincoln for two Griffon single-game records of 289 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, breaking Tony Williams' 26-year old record of 283 yards, and tying Dalton Krysa's five-touchdown performance against Lincoln in 2010. He came into the game with148 yards and four TDs, and ended the day as the backfield's leader scorer.
McCoy scored once in the first quarter, twice in the second, one in the third and twice in fourth. Reagan Jones chipped in with a 37-yard TD run of his own to begin the second quarter, as MWSU as a team rushed a new game record of 462 yards. The 41-0 final marks this as MWSU's second-time ever with two shutouts in one season, following in the 1975 team's footsteps with a defensive goose egg recorded to begin and end the season.
