ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The spoils were shared at Spratt Memorial Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the Griffons and the RiverHawks battled to a 1-1 draw at Craig Field.
Both teams traded blows back and forth in the first half, with the RiverHawks (5-3-8, 2-3-4 MIAA) having the majority of the ball and chances. Neither team was able to break the deadlock, however, and the first half concluded with both teams locked in a scoreless draw.
The second half began with more of the same, with both teams probing for the opener.
Kaili Campbell finally found the opening goal in the 70th minute when a ball played to the back post from
Lauren Nylund found Campbell ready to strike. Campbell buried the shot in the far corner to give the Griffons (5-7-4, 3-4-2 MIAA) the lead.
The RiverHawks responded with a goal in the 80th minute, bringing the score to 1-1. Both teams would have chances to nab a winner late, but neither side was able to finish the game off, leading to the match finishing level at 1-1.
