ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Western lacrosse team defeated Quincy Sunday afternoon, 14-7, at Spratt Stadium in its final home of its inaugural season. It's the second straight win for the Griffons as they improve to 5-7 and 3-3 in the GLVC. MWSU finishes 4-3 on their home field this season.
Quincy got out to a quick start on Sunday as they scored just 47 seconds into the game and added a second goal five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. It was a defensive battle in the first half, but Missouri Western scored three straight goals and four of five to close out the half and they led 4-3 at halftime.
The two teams traded goals in the first five minutes of the second half before the Griffons took control of the game. They used a 6-0 run to build a seven-goal lead and Quincy never got closer than six the rest of the way.
Jordan Shughrue led Missouri Western with six goals,
Madison Brady added three,
Madison Iandoli scored two goals, and
Jazmine Servance,
Karlin York and
Alex Shaffer had one each.
Mackenzie Porter made 11 saves in goal for MWSU.
The Griffons outshot the Hawks 39-25, including 28-18 shots on goal. Missouri Western picked up 49 ground ball, while QU had 35. MWSU was able to go 25-of-27 on their clear attempts Sunday, while Quincy struggle and went just 17-of-31.
It was senior day at Spratt Stadium Sunday as they honored their four seniors before the game;

Madison Iandoli,
Alex Shaffer and
Maggie McDaniel.
Missouri Western will wrap up its regular season Tuesday as they travel to Lebanon, Illinois for a matchup with McKendree beginning at 3:00 p.m.
