LEBANON, Ill. – The Missouri Western lacrosse team closed out its inaugural season Tuesday as they lost at McKendree, 22-15.  The Griffons wrap up year one with a 5-8 overall record and they finished fifth in the GLVC at 3-4.

 
McKendree jumped out to a 3-1 lead on Tuesday before MWSU answered back with three straight goals to take the lead with 14:36 left in the first half.  The game was tied 5-5 with 10 minutes left in the half when the Bearcats took control of the game.
 
McKendree scored seven straight goals before Jordan Shughrue found the back of the net with five second left in the first half and the Griffons trailed 12-6 at the break. 
 
The Bearcats then added four straight goals to start the second half before Missouri Western outscored them the rest of the way 9-6.
 
Shughrue led the Griffs with five goals, while Amani Robinson added a career-high three goals and Madison Iandoli scored three.  Olivia Futrell, Jorja Schooler, Madison Brady and Alex Shaffer added one goal each.  Shaffer also led Missouri Western with two assists.
 
McKendree outshot MWSU 50-25, including 34-18 on goal.  Mackenzie Porter made 12 saves in goal for the Griffons.  The Bearcats had seven more draw controls, 23-16, and had 31 ground balls to Missouri Western's 20.
