ST. JOSEPH, Mo – The Missouri Western women's tennis team is back in action Friday after having last weekend off. The Griffons play host to Missouri Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will take place at Genesis Health Club in St. Joe.
MWSU opened its 2021 season two weeks ago as they split with Augustana and Arkansas Tech. The Griffons lost to Augie, 6-1, but bounced back to defeat Arkansas Tech, 4-2, for the first time in program history.
Isabella MacGibbon is 2-0 so far in her singles matches, while
Anya Chavez and
Nicole Donnelly are 1-1. Two of Missouri Western's doubles teams are 1-1 so far this season. The no. 1 doubles team of Chavez and
Ioanna Lathouri have split their first two matches, as has the no. 3 doubles team of Donnelly and MacGibbon.
This will be Missouri Valley's first match of the spring semester. They went 3-0 in the fall, defeating Truman State (7-0), William Jewell (7-0) and Baker (6-1).
