ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Soccer suffered its second defeat of the season, 2-0 to Rockhurst (2-0), on Sunday to close out the Stoney Creek Hotel Classic. The 0-2 start to the season is the first for the program since 2010.
 
NOTABLES

• After a career-high 12 saves on Friday, Anna Mayer broke MWSU's program record for saves in a game with 18
• Mayer had 85 saves through 19 games last year and ended the first weekend of her sophomore season with 30
• McKenna Leetch scored both Rockhurst goals within the game's first eight minutes. She put the Hawks up 1-0 in the fourth minute and headed in the second in the ninth with an assist from her sister Jillian Leetch
• Rockhurst out-shot MWSU 23-2 in the first half and 36-5 in the game
• The Griffons managed four shots on goal
• Rockhurst managed nine corner kicks to MWSU's one
• Taylor Schwartzkopf had two shots to lead MWSU. Claire Meyers and Kaili Campbell had the Griffs' other shots.
