Soccer Holds Draw with Wayne State

Griffons remain scoreless through two overtimes

ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Soccer (0-2-1) drew a tie with Wayne State College (0-1-2) Friday night at Spratt Stadium. Five different Griffs managed one shot on goal apiece, but none gave Missouri Western its first goal of the season.

 
NOTABLES
  • Anna Meyer had three saves, bringing her season total to 33. Meyer's 11 saves per game lead the MIAA and her .892 save percentage is fourth-best.
  • Missouri Western posted a season-high 22 shots in the game
  • 15 of the Griffs' shots came in the second half while MWSU's defense held the Wildcats without a shot in final 45 minutes of regulation.
  • Neither team was credited with a shot in the second overtime period after three for the visitor in the first OT and two for MWSU.
  • Taylor Schwartzkopf had a game-high five shots, one on goal, and leads the team with 11 this season.
  • The tie was the team's first 0-0 draw since the first round of the 2016 MIAA Championships at Fort Hays State.
  • Both teams left Friday night's game in search of their first goal and win of the season.
