ST. JOSEPH – Lindenwood scored two first half goals to hand Griffon Soccer a 2-0 loss in its first game of the 2019 season.

Anna Mayer saves through the first 28 minutes of play, Amanda Orlando bent a prayer around Missouri Western's sophomore goalkeeper to put Lindenwood up 1-0. The goal came minutes after Mayer's fifth save came on a Lindenwood penalty kick. The Lions scored again in the 41
st minute to take a 2-0 lead to the half.
After 12 Lindenwood shots in the first half to six by the Griffons, MWSU out-shout the Lions 8-5 in the second half, but could not find the back of the net. Lindenwood goalkeeper Megan Swanson needed just two saves to shutout Missouri Western. Mayer finished with a career-high 12 saves, tied for fifth most in program history.
