WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Griffon Soccer held No. 7-ranked Central Missouri (6-1) scoreless for the first 76 minutes, but a UCM goal in the 77^th minute handed the Griffons a 1-0 loss. Missouri Western became just the third team this season to hold UCM to less than two goals.
 
Kassie Newsome scored the game winner for the Jennies off an assist from Haley Freeman. It was the only of five shots on goal by the home team to get by Anna Mayer. The Griffons nearly matched the Jennies shot-for-shot, ending the game with 11 total to UCM's 15. Three of the Griffs' shots were on frame.
 
Sofia Zwick, Jordan Jennings and Claire Meyers had the shots on goal for MWSU. Taylor Schwartzkopf led MWSU with four shots. UCM was coming off scoring nine goals over two games at Northwest Missouri and against Missouri Southern last week.

The Griffons play their first official MIAA game at Missouri Southern (1-5), Sunday at 1 p.m. Missouri Western clipped the Lions 1-0 last week in St. Joseph in a non-conference game.
