WICHITA, Kan. – Griffon Soccer (4-8-3, 1-5-2) played to a 1-1 draw at Newman (6-3-6, 2-2-4) Friday night.
The Griffons came back to tie the game, but couldn't get the game winner to pick up the team's first victory since Oct. 6 at Washburn. Trailing 1-0 after a Selina Vidhammer goal in the 40
th minute.
Claire Meyers evened the score in the 61
st with her second goal in as many games and the second of her junior season.
Missouri Western got its one goal off four shots on goal and seven through 110 minutes. Newman registered 22 shots with 11 on goal. Meyer's equalizer was one of two second half shots for the Griffons. MWSU did not record a shot in the second overtime after each team had two in the first OT.
Anna Mayer picked up 10 saves in the contest, her fourth double-digit save performance of the season. It gave the sophomore keeper 104 saves on the season, seventh most ever by a Griffon.

The Griffons head a little further down I-35 to take on Central Oklahoma, Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bronchos moved to 9-4-2 and 4-4 in the MIAA with an 8-0 drubbing of Northwest Missouri on Friday.
