ST. JOSEPH – An overtime goal gave Rogers State (5-6-3, 2-3-2) a 2-1 win over Griffon Soccer (4-8-2, 1-5-1), Sunday afternoon at Spratt Stadium.
Laurelle Theodore scored the golden goal eight minutes into overtime off a long assist from Kori Watters. Watters banged a pass just inside the box that Theodore beat Griffon goalkeeper
Anna Mayer to for the game winner. The decisive goal came off a Rogers State goal kick following a Missouri Western corner kick.
Fans had to wait a while for the final goal.
Claire Meyers gave MWSU a 1-0 lead in the 13
th minute, beating a Rogers State defender, dribbling into the box and blasting a shot into the upper left corner of the net after passes from
Lillian Davis and
Mackenzie O'Neill. Anita Gaspar got the equalizer one minute later on a penalty kick, just getting the PK past a diving Mayer's finger tips.
The Griffons had 21 shots in the contest with five on goal. They outshot Rogers State 8-4 in the first half, 11-10 in the second and had two shots in overtime.

Missouri Western will play its next three games on the road, the final away games of the regular season. The road swing begins Oct. 25 at another first-year MIAA member, Newman (6-3-4, 2-2-2).
