Box Score MARSHALL, Mo. – Missouri Western Women's Tennis fell just short of earning its first victory of the season on Wednesday. The Griffons narrowly lost to Missouri Valley by a score of 5-4.
 
The Griffons played very well in the doubles, winning two of the three doubles matches. The teams of Joanna Abreu Roman/Karolina Ström and Mireia Birosta/Ciarra Gilmore each walked away with wins to give Missouri Western a 2-1 lead going into singles. The Griffons came close to sweeping the doubles matches. Erica Dunn and Federica Salmaso fell by a score of 8-6 after storming back from being down 4-1.
 
Missouri Western managed to win two of the six singles matches as both Ström and Abreu Roman earned their first individual wins of the season. Salmaso nearly gave the Griffons their third singles win but fell in three sets in the day's closest matchup of the day.
