ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western Women's Tennis picked up a victory over Lindenwood on Sunday morning, winning 5-4. The Griffons honored Meara Smith, Lindsay Beger, Sarah Giraldo, and Denise Chiao on Senior Day for their final home match of the season.
 
The Griffons held a 2-1 advantage after doubles matches. Sofia Aguilera and Yasmine El Ghazi mounted a spectacular comeback in the No. 1 doubles matches. They trailed 6-3 to the Lions and managed to take the doubles match 9-7. Joanna Abreu Roman and Sarah Giraldo won the No. 2 doubles match 8-3.
 
In singles competition, the Griffons claimed wins in the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 spots. The deciding match came down to Aguilera in the No. 3 spot as she won her match 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 over Clara Piccamiglio. El Ghazi won 6-3, 5-0 in the No. 1 singles match due to injury. Freshman Abreu Roman took her match 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles competition.
