ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Western Women's Tennis team got back on track with a solid 7-2 victory over Emporia State on Thursday afternoon.

The Griffons were able to take the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to help propel the Griffons to an early 3-0 lead. Sofia Aguilera and Yasmine El Ghazi beat Amy Fugit and Tawni Griffey in the No. 1 doubles spot. Joanna Abreu Roman and Sarah Giraldo won 8-4 in the No. 2 competition. Emporia State had to withdraw the final doubles match.

Missouri Western stumbled in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches but rebounded with three straight set victories in the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 spot. Augilera picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory and Roman won 6-2, 6-1 in her match. Meara Smith picked up an impressive 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 5 singles spot.
