EDMOND, Okla. – The Missouri Western Women's Tennis team took part in the ITA Central Region Tournament this weekend.
In the opening A Singles First Round yesterday,
Joanna Abreu Roman won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.Â
Yasmine El Ghazi and Karolina Strom both dropped their matches. Abreu Roman and El Ghazi would fall in the second round later in the day as well. Strom started today with a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 win before falling in the next round of the consolation bracket.
In the A Doubles First Round bracket,
Joanna Abreu Roman and Karolina Strom dropped their opening match.Â
Sofia Aguilera and
Yasmine El Ghazi would also fall in their match for the first round.
The B Singles First Round draw, saw
Sofia Aguilera defeat her opening opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 then losing her opening match this morning. Â
Nicole Bonham and
Federica Salmaso would drop their first round matches but Salmaso would rebound and win her back draw match 6-0, 6-3. Bonham would open this morning up with a straight set victory 6-3, 7-6 but would fall in her next match. Salmaso would also drop her first match of the morning.
Women's B Doubles took the court this morning as well with
Federica Salmaso and
Kaylene Quirk teaming up for the first round win, 8-5 before falling in the second round.Â
Emilee Dent and
Katherine Yeacker would drop their opening round match in doubles play.
Missouri Western is off until Oct. 14 when they host William Jewell at the Genesis Health Club in St. Joseph. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
