MWSU Game Program | Season Stats | MIAA Standings

ST. JOSEPH - Missouri Western closes the regular season with serious postseason implications on the line in its two final doubleheaders. Entering the final two series, the Griffons have already clinched a spot in the MIAA tournament and are tied with Central Oklahoma for second in the conference standings just one game behind MIAA-leader Central Missouri.
 
Tiffany Gillaspy continues to lead the team in most offensive categories and sits in the top-five in most MWSU career offensive statistics. The senior is batting .384 and slugging .755, both team highs. She also leads the team with 58 hits, 14 home runs and 114 total bases. Katie Klosterman has been hot of late and now sits second on the team with a .374 batting average. Morgan Rathmann is among the national leaders with eight triples on the season.
 
Janie Smith is 16-7 on the year with a team-low 2.72 ERA. Smith leads the Griffon staff with 152 innings pitched, 26 appearances and 98 strikeouts. Shyanne Saladino is 16-6 with a 2.87 ERA. The junior has pitched 122 innings in 24 appearances with 58 strikeouts.
 
This weekend the team will recognize seniors Tiffany Gillaspy and Brooke Schaben. Gillaspy comes into the week having played in 179 career games with 167 starts. In 552 career at bats, Gillaspy has struck out just 51 times. Gillaspy is tied for the second most runs in her career (130), fifth in hits (200), third in RBIs (154), tied for fourth with 40 doubles, tied for second with 37 home runs and third with 357 total bases.  Schaben holds a .213 career batting average. She has played in 113 games with 99 starts. She has 59 career hits, 41 runs, 11 doubles, six home runs and 32 RBIs. 

WASHBURN ICHABODS
The Ichabods are coming off a split at Central Oklahoma and a split at Wayne State College last weekend. They enter the week tied for fifth in the MIAA with No. 20 Emporia State.
 
Marina Quimby leads the team with her .396 batting average. Quimby also leads the team with 61 hits. Lauren Thimmesch has hit 13 home runs on the team and leads Washburn with 39 RBIs. Cassidy Merriman and Jordan Erickson have each hit 10 home runs. Taylor Zimmerman leads the team with 13 doubles.
 
In the circle, Thimmesch is 19-6 with a 2.06 ERA. She's pithced 159.2 innings with 98 strikeouts and a .215 opponents' batting average. Quimby has the second most wins of any Washburn with a 3-2 record and a 3.79 ERA. 

#20 EMPORIA STATE HORNETS
Emporia State enters the weekend after losing its last four games and five of its last six.  The Hornets have been swept in their last two MIAA doubleheaders; one at Northeastern State and another at Central Oklahoma. The Hornets will play a doubleheader at Northwest Missouri State before making the trip to St. Joseph.
 
Stephanie Goodwin leads the team with a .429 batting average, 66 hits, 20e doubles and 57 RBIs. Brenda Norvelo leads the team with eight home runs. Goodwin and Jessica Gragg each have six. Taylor Zordel is second on the team with a .384 batting average.
 
Much like the Griffons, the Hornets have mainly relied on two pitchers. Eryn Stockman leads the team with a 2.34 ERA. Stockman is 12-9 in 19 starts and 23 appearances. Kaitlyn Caston is 12-5 with a 3.02 ERA in 20 starts and 25 appearances. She's pitched 132.1 innings and leads the team with 66 strikeouts.
