Jerry Partridge will coach his 200th game Thursday night when Central Missouri comes to Spratt Stadium for the 2014 season opener.
The Griffons enter the season ranked 24th in the D2Football.com poll and receiving votes in the American Football Coaches Association Preseaseon Poll. Central Missouri is also receiving votes in the AFCA poll.
It's the third straight year the MIAA rivals will meet in a season opening game. MWSU has won nine of 10 in the series, including a 26-23 come from behind win in Warrensburg last year. The Griffons are coming off an 8-3;7-3 season. Central Missouri won its last four games after beginning the season 2-4.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Sept. 4. Griffon Athletics will present the first 500 fans with a Griffon Game Day Tumbler cup courtesy of US Bank, Nestle Purina and Fast Gas. Thursday's game is also part of United Way Paint It Gold Day.
