Box Score 2 SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Griffon Volleyball moved to 6-2 on the season after going 2-0 Saturday at the NSIC Challenge. The Griffons downed Minnesota State-Moorhead in a five-set match and took care of Sioux Falls in four sets.
The Griffons went 3-1 on the weekend in Sioux Falls and return to St. Joseph with three all-tournament performers.
Amanda Boender,
Jordan Chohon and
Jessie Thorup were all selected to the NSIC Challenge All-Tournament team.
Game 1MWSU took the first match of the day on a 15-12 victory in the deciding set of a back and forth affair. The Griffons claimed the first set 25-23 before dropping the second, winning the third and falling 25-23 in the fourth.
Erica Rottinghaus and
Jessie Thorup each had 15 kills in the match, with
Amanda Boender adding 13 and
Kelsey Olion chipping in 12.
Sarah Faubel had 19 digs with
Jordan Chohon and Olion adding 14 each. Chohon set up all those kills with 54 assists and the team had 12 blocks. Boender had six block assists,
Lindsey Partridge had five.
Game 2The Griffons took the first two sets, winning by a combined score of 50-33. Sioux Falls squeaqed out a two point win to force a fourth set that the Griffons took 25-16.
Thorup led the squad with 17 kills, followed by Boender's 15 and nine by Olion. Chohon had a 47 assist match and Faubel had 16 digs.
The Griffons hit .325 and had nine team blocks.
MWSU opens up MIAA play at its home opener Sept. 16 when they host Central Missouri in the MWSU Fieldhouse.
