Griffon Softball navigated through the land of the four seasons at the Spring Sports Complex going 5-3 in games played last week. Last Wednesday the Griffs split a doubleheader with #20 Winona State falling in game one 2-1 while winning the nightcap 4-0. Offensively,

Jackie Bishop continued her dominance in the circle striking out six. In the opening round of the MWSU Softball Invitational on Friday, after an opening game defeat to Northern State 3-2, the team responded in a big way to run rule St. Cloud State 10-0 as
Brooke Schaben drove in four runs with Bishop tossing her third no-hitter of the season. On Saturday the Griffs picked up two big wins defeating Wayne State 4-3 and #5 Augustana 6-0. Schaben continued her hot hitting homering and driving in two in game one, while in game two solid pitching by Bishop and a grand slam home run to seal the game in the bottom of the sixth by freshman
Morgan Rathmann enabled the Griffons to beat the nationally ranked Vikings. On the tournaments final day, the Griffs knocked off Concordia-St. Paul 7-2 with
Janie Smith going the distance for the victory and in game two the Griffs lost a great pitchers dual 1-0 to Minnesota State as the teams mustered just three hits between them.
For her performance last week,
Jackie Bishop was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
The Griffons are now 19-13 overall and have a week to recoup before returning to MIAA play this weekend at home. Action begins Saturday at 12 PM in a doubleheader against Pittsburg State and then Missouri Southern will be here on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 PM.

The Gorillas are 15-13 overall after going 2-4 last weekend at the Missouri Western Invitational and falling 9-1 against Missouri-St. Louis. The Gorillas hit .313 as a team. They have hit 36 doubles, six triples and 36 home runs on the season.
Pitt State is led by Tiffany Brown and McKenzie Rynard who are both hitting over .400 for the season. Brown leads with a .459 batting average, 33 runs scored, 16 home runs and 44 RBI. Rynard hits .451 a team-leading eight doubles and adds 28 RBI. Brenna George is just under .400 with a .376 batting average. She is second on the team in runs scored with 30.
The Pitt State pitchers have a 3.25 ERA as a group. Sam Grove has pitched the majority of the innings and earned a 2.23 ERA and an 8-5 record in 91.0 innings pitched. Haleigh Sills and Kylie Harpst shared the remainder of the innings, each has just over a 4.00 ERA. Sills is 4-4 on the season in 56.1 innings. Harpst has a 3-3 records in 30.2 innings. Sills and Grove lead the team in strikeouts with 36.

The Lions are 10-20 overall after going 2-4 last weekend at the Missouri Western Invitational. The Lions hit .271 as a team. They have hit 42 doubles, five triples and 21 home runs on the season.
Missouri Southern is led by Dawn Grass and Jessica Castoe who are both hitting over .300 for the season. Grass leads with a .366 batting average with 34 hits and four home runs. Castoe hits .306 with nine runs and three doubles. Chloe Brown leads the way with home runs with 7.
The Missouri Southern pitchers have a 4.65 ERA as a group. Haley Kinnison has pitched the majority of the innings and earned a 3.82 ERA and an 6-9 record in 80.2 innings pitched. Sarah Williams and Shelby Mitchell and shared most of the remainder of the innings, each has just over a 5.00 ERA. Williams is 3-6 on the season in 71.1 innings. Mitchell has a 1-5 records in 40.0 innings. Kinninson leads the team in strikeouts with 55.

Jackie Bishop Missouri Western's all-time leader in victories with 82 is 12-6 on the season and threw her 4th career no-hitter in an 10-0 victory over St. Cloud State last weekend. She was named the MIAA Atroturf/Pitcher of the Week for her performance. She is also the Griffons all-time leader in strikeouts with 835 career strikeouts.
