WARM UPS...
It has been a tough last week for the Griffons softball team as they have fell in five of their last six games with all six games being MIAA games. They come into the weekend with an 11-9 overall record and 1-5 record in MIAA play. The Griffons have struggled on the road this season falling in four of their seven road contests. The Griffons will be in Warrensburg, Mo. on Friday, March 14 with an MIAA tilt against the Jennies of Central Missouri. The Jennies are 7-7 overall and 2-2 in MIAA play. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm from the South Recreation Complex. Then on Saturday, March 15 the Griffons travel to Bolivar, Mo. for two games with the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats are 4-12 overall and 2-4 in MIAA play. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm.

• UCM is 7-7 this season and 2-2 in MIAA play. The Jennies fell twice at Fort Hays State before defeating Nebraska-Kearney twice last weekend in their MIAA opener.
• As a team the Jennies are hitting .315 with Alex Groeger leading the way with a .412 average. Jackki Prater is hitting .392 with 20 hits while Lauren Mabe is hitting .390 with 16 hits. Prater leads the power charge with nine home runs and 21 RBI.
• In the circle the Jennies are led by Jakki Prater with a 6-2 record and a 4.09 ERA. She has 24 strikeouts but has given up 57 hits. As a team they have a 5.66 ERA and are allowing their opponents to hit .308. They have given up 26 doubles and 11 home runs in 14 games. They have also hit 17 batters.

• The Bearcats are 4-12 on the season and are 2-2 in MIAA play. The Bearcats are under new head coach Jim Flora and have split three of the last four double headers. The split a double header with Washburn, Rockhurst and Nebraska-Kearney.
• As a team the Bearcats are hitting just .257 with Addie Murders and Caitlyn Cooner leading the way hitting .400 and .396 respectively. Cooner leads the way with 15 RBI, five doubles and three home runs. Cooner also had 21 hits.
• In the circle the Bearcats have a 6.02 ERA with Kacey Ayers leading the way with a 5.87 ERA and a 2-6 record. She has pitched 46 innings giving up 58 hits, 30 earned runs and with 32 strikeouts. She has walked 19 and given up nine double and nine home runs. She is allowing hitters to hit .293 against her. Kyra Parker is 2-4 with a 6.08 ERA in 11 appearances. She has pitched 47.1 innings giving up 65 hits with 32 earned runs and 33 strikeouts. She has given up seven homers and seven doubles. Opponents hit .316 against her. Allison Easley has a 6.48 ERA with an 0-2 record. She has given up 15 hits and six earned run in 8.1 innings.
ABOUT THE GRIFFONS...
• The Griffons are 11-9 this season and 1-5 in MIAA play. They have struggled as off late falling in five of their last six games and six of their last eight.
• Missouri Western received notes in the latest NFCA top 25 poll and would be ranked 36th playing out the poll points.

Tiffany Gillaspy leads the team with a .350 batting average and a team-high four home runs.
Kat Steponovich has 16 RBI while batting .278.

Jackie Bishop is 7-3 this season with a 1.19 earned run average with 85 strikeouts compared to only 10 walks as opponents are batting .172 against her.
• The Griffons are 16-17 against the Jennies since 2002 and are 5-5 on the road.
• Against Southwest Baptist the Griffons are 23-2 since 2002 and are 10-0 in Bolivar. The Griffons have won six straight with their last loss comeing on April 16, 2010 by a score of 3-1 in Maryville, Mo.

Jackie Bishop Missouri Western's all-time leader in victories with 77 is 7-3 on the season and threw her 2nd career no-hitter in an 8-0 victory over Ouachita Baptist earlier this season. She was named the MIAA Atroturf/Pitcher of the Week for her performance. She is also the Griffons all-time leader in strikeouts with 771 career strikeouts.

Katie Klosterman -- Klosterman is a freshman from Omaha, Neb. where she played her high school softball at Millard West HS. She is 1-5 at the plate picking up her first hit as a Griffons against Northwest Missouri State.

Morgan Rathmann - Rathmann a freshman from Neosho, Mo. has played and started all 20 games in center field. She is hitting .298 with 14 hits and seven runs scored. She has also stolen seven bases. She has a hit in nine of her last 12 games.

Sydney Washington - Washington is a freshman from Columbia, Mo. and has played and started all 20 games in left field. Washington is hitting .275 with 14 hits and seven runs scored. She has two doubles and nine RBI. She has also stolen five bases. She hit her first home run of her career against St. Cloud State earlier this year. She has three homers in three of her last seven games.

Michelle Stevenson -- Has started all 20 games at second base...is hitting .224 with 13 hits. Six of her hits have been for extra bases as she has hit 3 doubles, 2 triples and a home runs. She has six RBI and is second in the team with three stolen bases.

Janie Smith -- Has pitched in 10 games with eight starts...struggled as of last losing her last four outings....sits at 4-6 on the season with a 4.40 ERA...she has two shutouts with 23 K's...she is hitting .227 with five hits which included her first home run of her career against Illinois-Springfield and her second against Washbrun.
