ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - This past weekend Missouri Western volleyball moved their winning streak to seven with sweeps over Southwest Baptist and Pittsburg State to push their record to 13-3 overall and a 7-1 in the MIAA.

Scouting the Griffons- On Friday night, the Griffons had another sweep this time beating Southwest Baptist Bearcats. The win gives the Griffons six in a row. Senior Sarah Faubel broke the career digs record on the night with 11 digs. The record stood at 1,565 and Faubel now has 1,566. Missouri Western took control early and never looked back. The Griffon defense didn't allow more than 16 points in any set. Offensively, the attack stayed balanced with four players recording at least seven kills. Jessie Thorupposted 10 kills and had a .455 attack percentage to lead the team. FreshmanAshley Mainordgot the start and hit a .500 attack percentage with eight kills.Kelsey Olionadded nine kills and 11 digs on the night.Jordan Chohonhad 30 assist on the night continuing her effective play.

Griffon Volleyball won their seventh straight MIAA contest in a 3-0 sweep of Pittsburg State Saturday afternoon. The Griffons rallied on seven straight points in the third to complete the sweep. It's the Griffons longest winnings streak since beginning the 2002 season 8-0, Missouri Western dispatched the Gorillas 25-17 in both the first two sets then fell behind 6-3 in the third before rattling off seven straight points that included six Pittsburg State errors. MWSU controlled the rest of the set, winning 25-20. Jessie Thorupled the way offensively for the Griffons, serving during the seven-point run and racking up 13 kills while hitting .333.Kelsey Olionhit .360 with 11 kills and chipped in four blocks.Sarah Faubelhad eight digs a day after becoming the program's all-time leader in that category.Jordan Chohonfinished with 38 assists, five digs and a kill.

Missouri Western remains balanced on offense with the passing of Jordan Chohon. She is averaging 11.57 assist per set which is good enough for second in the MIAA. Jessie Thorup and Amanda Boender each remain in the top ten in hitting percentage each hitting over .330. Thorup and Erica Rottinghaus each find themselves in the top ten in kills per set.

As a team Missouri Western has a .285 hitting percentage well above the rest of the MIAA and they hold their opponents to a .188 hitting percentage. Also, the Griffons are third in the MIAA with 12.91 assist per set.

Scouting the Tigers - Fort Hays State is currently 7-9 on the season and a 2-6 conference record; they are on a three game losing streak. The Tigers took on #17 Central Missouri on Friday but could not win a set in the match losing 3-0. FHSU then visited Lindenwood Saturday afternoon but lost in four close sets.

Mallory Flagor is the leader on offensive for the Tigers with a .289 hitting percentage and averages 3.57 kills per set placing her eight in that category. FHSU relies on two setters to provide offense and score points. Libby Ary averages 5.88 assist per set and Kirsten Conor records a 4.82 assist per set. Keanu Bradley is the digs leader with 305 on the season and an average of 5.08.

Scouting the Lopers - UNK's record is 14-2 overall and 6-2 in MIAA play. On Friday night the Lopers went to Lindenwood winning 3-1. Nebraska-Kearney then faced a tough Central Missouri team and lost 3-1. The Lopers pushed two sets into overtime but couldn't find a victory. They are currently ranked 8^th in country.

Nebraska-Kearney has a well balanced offense with five different players recording at least two kills per set. Kinslie TeKolste is the attack leader with a 3.25 kills per set average. The offensive will be primarily run through Erin Seele, she has averaged 11.46 assist per set and has totaled 642 assist. The Lopers also have five individuals averaging at least two digs per set. As a team, Nebraska-Kearney is third in hitting percentage averaging .254 and currently sits second in assist per set with 13.53.
