HAYS, Kan. - Missouri Western opened the road portion of their MIAA schedule with a 9-0 loss against Fort Hays State on Friday (Mar. 8) at the FHSU Tennis Courts in Hays, Kan. The loss drops the Griffons to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in MIAA play.
The Griffons lost all double matches falling into an early 3-0 hole. The Griffons also struggled in singles competition falling in straight sets in every macth.
The Griffons No. 1 doubles team of Denise Chaio and
Meara Smith fell 8-1 against the duo of Brittney Ricci and Melissa Skovira while
Kayla Dysart and
Lindsay Beger fell 8-3 against Camille Caron-Bedard and Caitlyn Wark in No. 2 competition. The No. 3 team
Ceara Boldridge and
Alyssa Dougan also lost 8-3 against Brianna Watkins.
In singles competition the Griffons scored no more than three games in a set against its opponents in singles play.
The Tigers improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in MIAA play.
Missouri Western returns to action on the road on Friday, March 9 against Nebraska-Kearney at 11:00 am.
