TALEQUAH, Okla. – The Griffons got a split on Saturday afternoon against Northeastern State in Talequah, Okla. Western won game one 9-4 with Keri Lorbert knocking in six runs before falling 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two. Western is 37-8 on the season while the RiverHawks sit at 21-23.

Game 1: MWSU 9, NSU 4 (8 innings)
Things didn't look good for the 17^th ranked Griffons as the RiverHawks scored two runs in both the first and second innings taking a 4-0 lead into the third.

The Griffon bats woke up in the third inning scoring four runs on three hits with Keri Lorbert blasting a three run homer over the left center field fence tying the score at four.

After giving up six hits in the first two innings Jackie Bishop settled down giving up just one the rest of the game. She improves to 21-2 on the season giving up four earned runs and striking out seven. She also stranded six RiverHawks on base.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth inning when Lobert stepped to the plate and blasted her second three run homer of the day giving Western the 7-4 lead. Lorbert tied a career high with six RBI and now has 45 on the season.

Western tacked on two more before the inning was over earning its 37^th victory of the year. Western had 10 hits with Kendall Sorenson, Blair Stalder, Lorbert and Sarah Elliot all getting two.

Northeastern State had seven hits with leadoff batter Madison Reed leading the way with three. Kelsi Hilderbrandt went 1-4 with two RBI. Sara Dornelas picked up the loss in relief going five innings giving up three earned runs and five hits. She falls to 3-5 with the loss.

Game 2: NSU 1, MWSU 0
The bats went cold in game two as they could not get the big hit to get them on the board. Western left seven runners on base which included two in the first and three in the fourth.

Annalee Rubio pitched a good game but gave up three straight hits in the bottom of the seventh dropping her to 13-6 on the season.
Sorenson, Stalder and Maegan Roemmich all got hits for Western.

Northeastern State got seven hits which included three from Ashton Bruce and two from Shayla Bullard. Cayce Coleman got the victory going all seven innings giving up three hits with five strikeouts. She improves to 11-6 with the victory.

Western returns to action on Sunday, April 22 taking on the 3^rd ranked Bronchos of Central Oklahoma in a doubleheader. Game time is set for 12:00 pm in Edmond, Okla.
