MIAA Championship Bracket
KANSAS CITY, Mo., - The Missouri Western women's tennis team(3-11, 1-6) fell 5-0 to the Washburn Lady Blues (10-7, 6-1) in opening round action at the MIAA Championships Friday. The Griffons move on to the consolation bracket with a match against Truman State Saturday morning at 9 a.m from the Plaza Tennis Center.
After dropping all three doubles matches, Washburn only needed two singles victories and got them in the number one and five spots.
Nicole Kerr was shut out in her number one match by Morgan Rainey and
Alecia Jenkins was blanked by Casyn Buchman. Kerr and
Katie Field fell 8-3 in number two doubles to Rainey and Whitley Zitsch.
Kayla Dysart and
Ceara Boldridge fell 8-1 to Jamie Blackim and Alyssa Castillo at the number one doubles spot. At number three doubles it was
Erin Ward and Jenkins falling 8-1 to Buchman and Sophie O'Neill.
Western will face Truman tomorrow morning with the winner advancing to play for fifth place against the Lincoln - Fort Hays winner on Saturday at 3:00 pm. Should the Griffons fall to the Bulldogs, they will face the loser fo the Lincoln - Hays match for seventh place on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
