ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Griffons return to action this weekend for a pair of non-conference doubleheaders against future MIAA foes. Western travels to Talequah, Okla. on Saturday, April 21 to take on the Northeastern State RiverHawks at 12:00 pm. Western swept the RiverHawks earlier this season by scores of 3-1 and 9-0 in Talequah on February 19. On Sunday, April 22 the Griffons wrap-up the regular season against #3 Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla. Game time is set for 12:00 pm.

COMING INTO THE WEEKEND FOR THE GRIFFONS:
The Griffons come into the weekend 17th in the NFCA and 5th in the first South Central Regional poll. The Griffons are 36-7 overall and finished the MIAA season 18-2. The Griffons have won 22 of its last 25 games which includes 11 of the last 12. Western is 14-2 at home winning 14 of their last 15 home games. On the road the Griffons are 12-3 with its only two conference losses coming in Emporia. The last non-conference game Western lost on the road was the first weekend of the season falling 6-0 against Ouachita Baptist and 6-2 in eight innings against Henderson State. In conference action the Griffons finished a perfect 12-0 at the MWSU Softball Field. As a team the Griffons are hitting .316 on the season which is second in the MIAA and 41st in the nation. The Griffons have eight players hitting over .300 with Maegan Roemmich leading the charge with a .378 batting average. She leads the team with 51 hits and 69 total bases while Bre Fleschner is hitting .370 with 37 hits and stolen 10 stolen bases. Roemmich is 7th in the MIAA in hitting while Fleschner is 9th. Keri Lorbert leads the team with 39 RBI while Kat Steponovich leads the team with 11 doubles and Sarah Elliott has two triples. As a team the Griffons have outscored their opponents 230-81 and have 42 stolen bases to its opponents 16. The Griffons .969 fielding percentage is best in the MIAA and 25th in Division II. In the circle the Griffons have been outstanding. Jackie Bishop leads the league with a 0.77 ERA and a 20-2 overall record. Her earned run average is 6th best in the nation. She has pitched 20 complete games with eight shutouts which includes her four of her last five games. She has 201 strikeouts which is 23 away from tying her single season record of 224. Annalee Rubio has also been very good in the circle giving up just 30 earned runs in 112.2 innings. She has a 1.86 ERA with a 13-5 overall record. She is second in the MIAA in ERA and 71st in the nation. She has pitched 13 complete games with six shutouts. Emily Moe is 3-0 with a 2.38 ERA in 35.1 innings pitches. Western has struck out 303 batters to its opponents 138.

COMING INTO THE WEEKEND FOR THE RIVERHAWKS:
The RiverHawks come into the weekend with a 19-19 overall record but have lost four of its last five which were all road games. The have 2-2 in its last four home games. The Griffons defeated the RiverHawks earlier in the season by scores of 3-1 and 9-0 in Talequah, Okla. on February 19, 2012. As a team the NSU has hit .281 with five players hitting over .300. Cayce Coleman is leading the charge with a .353 batting average. She has 36 hits and one home run. Shelbi Bowin, Kelsi Hilderbrandt, Madison Reed and Rachel Powers are hitting .342, .338, .326 and .320 respectively. In the circle Coleman has been solid boasting a 1.56 ERA in 16 apperances. She is 9-5 with six shutous and six complete games. She has giving up just 23 earned runs. Shelby Enlow and Alex Files have a 2.79 and 2.97 ERA respectively.

COMING INTO THE WEEKEND FOR THE BRONCHOS:
The No. 4-ranked Bronchos lead in scoring and home runs, averaging 8.0 runs a game and 1.49 homers a contest.  UCO is second in batting average (.373) and slugging percentage (.582) while also ranking fourth in winning percentage at .919 with a 36-3 record. Senior catcher Nathalie Timmermans has the individual lead in three categories – homers per game (0.51), slugging percentage (.975) and runs per game (1.51) – while ranking second in total homers (19) and runs batted in per game (1.62). Junior third baseman Kacie Edwards is right behind Timmermans in RBI at third with 1.59 a game while also ranking eighth in homers per game (0.38), 10th in slugging percentage (.860), 13th in average (.465) and 14th in total homers (14). On the mound the Bronchos have a 2.87 team ERA. Rachael Steverson is 18-2 with a 2.85 ERA while Amanda McClelland is 16-1 with a 2.90 ERA. Senior outfielder Kayce Raines is third in runs per game (1.38) and 19th in on base percentage (.525).  Freshman outfielder Kaylee Brunson is seventh in runs (1.24). have struck out 206 on the season.
