Jessica Berg will enter her sixth season as the head coach of Griffon Lacrosse in 2027. Under her leadership, Griffon Lacrosse has posted a 44-40 overall record, including an 18-19 record against GLVC opponents.
The Griffons have finished the regular season above .500 each of the last four seasons, and have qualified for the GLVC tournament each of the last four seasons as well - a tournament in which only four teams are able to qualify.
Berg's teams have had great success both on the field and in the classroom. Under her guise, the Griffons have garnered a combined 38 all-GLVC honors, including two major award winners - Mikaela Ness (GLVC Defender of the Year 2023) and Grace Williams (GLVC Defender of the Year 2025).
Berg also helped Sam Pruitt and Grace Williams earn IWLCA first team all-region honors in 2025 - the first two players in program history to achieve that feat.
Berg's teams have also been awarded the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Team Academic Award three times, and the GLVC Team Academic Award twice.
A Colorado Springs native, Berg started at MoWest as the interim head coach in 2022 and became the permanent head coach that same fall after leading the Griffs to an 8-9 overall record and a 2-5 mark in GLVC Conference play in her first season.
In 2023, Berg led the Griffs to their first ever postseason berth, earning the No. 4 seed in the GLVC tournament, ending that season with a 9-8 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the GLVC.
Berg continued to raise the bar in 2024, leading MoWest to a program best 10-7 record, including a 4-3 mark in the GLVC. The Griffs once again qualified for the GLVC tournament.
The Griffs continued their winning ways in 2025 with a 9-8 record - the third consecutive winning season. MoWest went 4-3 in GLVC play and yet again qualified for the GLVC conference tournament.
Berg led MoWest to an 8-8 record in 2026, including a 4-3 record in the GLVC - good enough for the Griffs to reach the GLVC tournament for a fourth consecutive season.
Berg came to MWSU after wrapping up her playing career at Regis University in Denver. She earned First Team All-America, All-Region and All-Conference honors as a senior and was named the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year. Berg scored 33 goals, had five assists, 62 ground balls, 116 draw controls and 50 caused turnovers as she helped the Rangers to a 14-2 record, an RMAC championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament. She was also named the RMAC All-Academic Player of the Year.
Berg spent three seasons at Regis and started 34 of the 37 games she played in. She finished with 59 goals, 11 assists, 139 ground balls, 96 caused turnovers and 172 draw controls. Berg helped the Rangers to a 36-5 record over those three seasons that included a shortened 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Regis won two RMAC titles during her career as they went 17-0 in league games and made two trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a national semifinal appearance in 2019.
Prior to playing at Regis, Berg spent three seasons (2016-2018) playing club lacrosse at Colorado State University. She was named a WCLA First Team All-American all three seasons, WCLA Midfielder of the Year in 2017 and made a WCLA national semifinal appearance in 2016.
Berg began her collegiate career playing field hockey at Syracuse University. She played one season for the Orange, appeared in seven games and helped Syracuse to the 2014 national championship game.
