Alex Thompson was hired as Missouri Western Athletics' head athletic trainer in December, 2022, where he works as the main point of contact for Griffon Sports Medicine.
Thompson graduated from Missouri Valley College in May, 2012, obtaining a bachelor's degree in athletic training. He received his master's degree in human performance at Lindenwood University in May, 2014. He is licensed and certified in Illinois and Missouri, holding memberships with the Board of Certifications, the Mid-America Athletic Trainers' Association, the Missouri Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
BEFORE MWSU
Prior to joining MWSU, Thompson built up experience as an athletic trainer at a variety of universities in the Midwest. Thompson worked as an assistant athletic trainer at McKendree from 2021-22. Before that, he spent a year at SportsCare USA in St. Louis as an athletic trainer and physician extender, where he performed daily duties for the XFL's St. Louis BattleHawks during the regular season. Thompson also worked at Lindenwood (2017-19), Western Illinois (2016-17) and Missouri Valley (2015-16).Â
