ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Volleyball (7-1) took its first loss of the season on Saturday night, falling to Rockhurst, 3-2, at the Fairfield Inn Griffon Volleyball Classic at the MWSU Fieldhouse.
MoWest got down early, dropping the first two sets 25-23 and 25-15 before bouncing back to take the third and the fourth - both by the score of 25-17.
The Griffons trailed 8-5 to start the fifth set and managed to tie it 10-10, but ultimately fell in the fifth, 15-12.
Tanith Roush logged a match-high 18 kills.
Taylor Russell and
Noelle Sutcliffe each had 13.
Anna Weberg logged a season-high 30 digs.
Katelyn Diani-O'Day had a team-best 27 assists and three ace serves.
Rockhurst (3-4) benefited from 24 attacking errors by MoWest, along with 10 service errors, three blocking errors and six receiving errors. Each team had nine blocks in the match. Rockhurst had 70 total digs to MWSU's 67.
MoWest stays home this coming week for the Holiday Inn Express Griffon Volleyball Invitational, hosting Arkansas Tech this Friday at 10:30 a.m.
