ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Soccer (3-0-1) stays unbeaten on the young season with a 1-0 win over Maryville (0-3-1) on a warm Saturday at Spratt Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, MoWest broke the tie in the 58th minute with a long, high goal from Jaida Douch off of an assist from Rosemary Pujado.
Maryville had its chances, especially late. The Saints had seven total corner kicks and five shots-on-goal altogether, but goalie Morgan Byrd held strong all day with five total saves.
MoWest finished with six total shots and four on goal. The Griffs also had seven corner kicks, and were called offside seven times.
Paola Cruz Valle and Cadence Dobberstein played the full 90 minutes defensively.
MoWest stays home for another non-conference match against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Wednesday. That match is set for a 1 p.m. start.
