ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Cross Country started the 2026 season at home with the Griffon Twilight, which was run at the MWSU Cross Country Course on Friday evening.
The Griffon men took first with two total teams scored in the 6K event. Northwest Missouri State was second.
Two teams were scored on the women's side, with MoWest slotted behind winner Northwest Missouri State in the 5K.
Hemistone Kipngetich Cheruiyot won the men's race (19:35.80), while
Landon Fuller came in second (19:41.31 - PR).
Westin Hess was fifth (20:11.94),
Sam Shipp sixth (20:13.86 - PR),
Ryan Ringgenberg seventh (20:15.45),
Jack Collins ninth (20:18.67) and
Angelo Baez-Mahr tenth (20:28.95 - PR).
Freshman
Laila Munoz led the Griffs with a fifth place finish in the women's race (20:41.15).
Magdalena Jakubowska was close behind in seventh (20:49.90), while
Riley King rounded out the top ten (21:24.96).
Griffon Cross Country is back in action on Saturday, September 19 at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin.
