WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Griffon Football (0-2, 0-1 MIAA) fell at Central Missouri Thursday night, 49-10, at Walton Stadium in Warrensburg.
MoWest scored the first points of the game on a 37-yard field goal from Latrell Armstrong and then took a 10-7 lead on a one-yard touchdown run from Rickie Dunn with 11:58 to go in the second quarter.
UCM (1-1, 1-0 MIAA) took over from there, holding MoWest off the board and scoring touchdowns on six consecutive drives.
Trailing 28-10 at halftime, MoWest got the ball to start the second half and drove 41 yards, but a 44-yard field goal attempt on that drive was blocked.
Third and fourth down was a struggle for MoWest, as the Griffons converted 5-of-15 on third down and 2-of-5 on fourth.
MoWest was limited to 270 yards of offense, while surrounding 436 yards to the Mules.
Dunn was a bright spot, finishing with 90 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. Crew Myers was the lead receiver with five catches for 83 yards.
Isaiah Tate completed 12-of-24 passes for 115 yards. Broc Worcester was the lead defender with 10 total tackles. A'Mon Walker had three pass breakups.
MoWest is back on the road next Saturday, September 12 to take on Missouri S&T. Kickoff from Bailey-Allgood Stadium in Rolla is set for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Griffon Sports Network (Varsity Network App, GoGriffons.com/listen).
