ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Volleyball remained at its program-best No. 8 ranking in the latest AVCA/Taraflex Division II Women's Volleyball Coaches Poll, released Monday.

MoWest received 835 points in this week's poll and holds a 13-1 overall record. The Griffons have now held the No. 8 spot for three consecutive weeks, continuing the highest national ranking in program history.

MWSU began the season tied for No. 16 in the preseason poll before climbing to a tie for No. 11 on Aug. 31. The Griffons moved into the top 10 at No. 10 on Sept. 7 before reaching No. 8 for the first time on Sept. 14.

Griffon Volleyball continued its strong start last week with a sweep of Northwest Missouri State inside Looney Complex. The victory improved MoWest to 3-0 in MIAA play and extended its streak to 18 consecutive set victories.

Four MIAA programs appear in this week's national top 25. Nebraska-Kearney sits at No. 6, followed by No. 8 MWSU, No. 14 Washburn and No. 17 Emporia State. Central Oklahoma and Central Missouri also received votes.

Ferris State remains the nation's No. 1 team, followed by Wayne State (Neb.) at No. 2, Tampa at No. 3, Fresno Pacific at No. 4 and Concordia-St. Paul at No. 5.

MoWest hits the road for its first MIAA road trip of the season this weekend. Griffon Volleyball travels to Warrensburg, Mo., to face (RV) Central Missouri on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. before heading to Joplin, Mo., for a Saturday matchup against Missouri Southern at 3 p.m.
