KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its Football Athlete of the Week awards, presented by FieldTurf, for week five of the 2026 season.
Griffon Football quarterback Isaiah Tate was named MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after powering the MoWest offense in a 46-29 win over Fort Hays State. Tate previously earned the honor following his week one performance against No. 20 Augustana.
Tate completed 28-of-40 passes for 429 yards and six touchdowns in the victory. His six touchdown passes set a new school record, while his 429 passing yards rank third and his 28 completions rank fourth in program history.
The quarterback also added 20 yards on the ground to finish with 449 yards of total offense, the sixth-most in a single game in program history.
Behind Tate, MoWest finished with 429 passing yards, the third-most in program history, and 605 yards of total offense, the eighth-most in program history.
MoWest returns to the road on Saturday, Oct. 3, to face No. 10 Emporia State (4-0, 2-0 MIAA). Kickoff from Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas, is set for 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Griffon Sports Network (Varsity Network App, GoGriffons.com/listen) and the MIAA Network.
