ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Soccer (4-0-3, 1-0-1 MIAA) scored a goal early in the second half to top Northeastern State, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph.
Rosemary Pujado perfectly placed a corner kick into the NSU 18-yard area, which was then scooted in past the goal line by Kendall Knisley in the 51st minute.
The Griffon defense held on from there, posting the fifth shutout of the season. Morgan Byrd made it possible with three saves in her 11th career shutout and 14th career win in goal. NSU was limited to just four shots-on-goal, including just one in the second half.
Pujado finished with three total shots, including two on goal. There were a combined 28 fouls in Sunday's match - 15 on the Riverhawks and 13 on the Griffons. Defenders Cadence Dobberstein and Marielle Wright played the entire 90 minutes.
MoWest is now 19-0-7 at home since the start of the 2024 season - an ongoing program record.
MoWest goes on the road this Wednesday for its final non-conference match of the season at Drury. Kickoff from the Curry Sports Complex in Springfield, Missouri is set for 5 p.m.
