ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Soccer closes out its current homestand this weekend as MoWest opens MIAA play with a pair of matches at Spratt Stadium.
The Griffons begin conference action Friday, Sept. 18, against Central Oklahoma. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MoWest will then wrap up the homestand Sunday, Sept. 20, against Northeastern State at 1 p.m.
MoWest enters conference play following a 0-0 draw against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 9. Goalkeeper Morgan Byrd recorded her third shutout of the season and 10th of her career in the draw.
The Griffons extended their home unbeaten streak to 24 matches following the draw with SWOSU. MoWest is 18-0-6 at Spratt Stadium since the start of the 2024 season.
Last season, MoWest finished 12-3-7 overall and 6-2-4 in MIAA play before capturing the program's first MIAA Postseason Tournament Championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Central Regional.
We Meet Again
This weekend will feature a pair of rematches from last season's MIAA Tournament in Wichita, Kansas.
On Friday, the Griffons will face Central Oklahoma for the first time since defeating the Bronchos in the 2025 MIAA Tournament Championship Game to capture the program's first MIAA Tournament title.
MoWest will then meet Northeastern State on Sunday in a rematch of the 2025 MIAA Tournament Semifinals. The Griffons defeated the RiverHawks 3-1 to advance to the championship match.
What's Next
Following the homestand, the Griffons will hit the road for three matches. MoWest will play its final non-conference match of the regular season at Drury on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. The Griffons will then play their first MIAA road matches of the season, traveling to Washburn on Friday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. and Newman on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
