SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 45 and No. 5 seed Griffon Tennis saw its 2026 season come to a close Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to No. 23 and top-seeded Augustana in the NCAA Division II Central Regional at Huether Tennis Centre.
MoWest finishes the year with an 18-6 overall record after making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five seasons. The Griffons also spent much of the spring nationally ranked during one of the top campaigns in program history.
The Griffons started the match by securing the doubles point. Johanna Priedite and Cristina Granero Boj earned a commanding 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Jevrosima Mitic and Claudia Pastor battled to a 7-6 (8-6) victory at No. 2 doubles to give MoWest the early 1-0 advantage.
Augustana responded in singles play with wins at No. 5, No. 6, No. 2, and No. 4 singles to clinch the Central Regional title and advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament Round of 16.
Several matches remained highly competitive throughout the afternoon. At No. 1 singles, Johanna Priedite split the opening two sets before her match was left unfinished in the third set. Mitic was also in the middle of a third-set battle at No. 3 singles when play was halted.
The Griffons close the 2026 season after putting together a historic year that included a 12-match winning streak, national rankings throughout the spring, and multiple All-MIAA selections.
