ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Women's Basketball head coach Luke Scheidecker announced the hiring of Mallory McDermott as an assistant coach.
McDermott joins MoWest after spending the 2025-26 season at Clarke University.
At Clarke, McDermott served as an assistant women's basketball coach and head JV basketball coach. Where she planned and ran practices, managed games, and helped align JV player development with the varsity program.
She also led individual skill development through small-group and one-on-one workouts focused on fundamentals, confidence, and game readiness. McDermott directed varsity film breakdown and opponent scouting while helping prepare reports and game plans for players and coaches.
McDermott also assisted with recruiting by evaluating prospects at AAU tournaments, high school games, and junior college events. In addition, she served as the team's strength and conditioning coach, designing year-round training programs and teaching proper lifting and conditioning techniques.
Before getting into coaching, McDermott was a five-year Division I student-athlete at Western Illinois University. She earned a bachelor's degree in management and a master's degree in sport management while competing for the Leathernecks.
