Lacrosse rounds out regular season with No. 3 UIndy, Lewis at home

Griffons host Greyhounds and Flyers at Spratt Stadium this weekend.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Lacrosse (7-6, 3-2 GLVC) wraps up its regular season this weekend at home with matches against No. 3 Indianapolis (13-1, 5-0 GLVC) on Friday and Lewis (7-7, 1-4 GLVC) on Sunday.

Friday's match starts at 4 p.m., with Sunday's starting at 1 p.m. Both will be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN.com) with an audio broadcast available on the Griffon Sports Network (Varsity Network App, GoGriffons.com/listen). Tommy Rezac will provide commentary.

Sunday will also serve as Senior Day with 10 seniors being honored after the conclusion of the match - Callie Faragher, Jordan Porter, Jessica Brook, Brinley Willenbrock, Maleah Sosa, Brooke Tjernlund, Zoe Kunick, Anna Raumschuh, Serah Ryals and Caetryn Gilreath.

Griffon Lacrosse is 5-0 all-time in its Senior Day matches.

What's At Stake
Griffon Lacrosse looks to clinch what would be its fourth consecutive trip to the GLVC Women's Lacrosse tournament.

MoWest sits fourth in the GLVC Standings entering the weekend. Only four of the eight teams in the conference advance to the postseason tournament.

MoWest can clinch its spot with just one win, OR one loss by McKendree. The GLVC Tournament semifinals are on May 1 with the championship set for May 3. The highest seeded school in each match will be the host.

Last Time Out
Griffon Lacrosse fell 22-0 at No. 10 Maryville in St. Louis this past Sunday.

Maryville seized control early, scoring nine goals in the opening quarter and building a 14-0 lead by halftime. The Saints added five more in the third and three in the fourth to complete the 22-0 result.

MoWest was limited offensively, finishing with five total shots, while Maryville totaled 49 in the contest. Despite the pressure, the Griffons recorded 18 saves on the defensive end.

Turnovers proved to be a factor, with MWSU committing 29 compared to Maryville's 15. In transition, the Griffons went 11-for-21 on clears, while the Saints finished 15-for-17.

Ava Garaway led the Griffons with 16 saves over 41:53 in goal, while Addie DeMars recorded 2 saves in 18:07 of playing time.

Opponent Sneak Peek
No. 3 UIndy is in position to clinch what would be its sixth consecutive GLVC Regular Season title. The Greyhounds would do that with just one more victory. UIndy, who made the NCAA Final Four last season, has won 12 consecutive matches and has outscored its opposition by an average of 11.1 goals per game.

Lewis has a very outside chance of qualifying for the GLVC Tournament. The Flyers would not only have to beat Quincy AND MoWest, but they'd ALSO need McKendree to lose BOTH of its matches to Rockhurst and William Jewell this weekend.

Series Histories
Friday will be the eighth all-time meeting with UIndy. The Greyhounds are 7-0 all-time vs. MWSU, including 3-0 all-time in St. Joseph.

Sunday marks the sixth all-time meeting with Lewis. The Griffs are 4-1 all-time against the Flyers, having won each of the last three meetings. MoWest is 2-0 against Lewis in St. Joseph all time.
