ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Tennis (11-2, 2-0 MIAA) extended its winning streak and remained unbeaten in conference play with a dominant 7-0 sweep over Arkansas-Fort Smith Thursday morning at Genesis Health Club.
MWSU controlled the match from the start, securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 before picking up a default victory at No. 3. The No. 1 duo of Jevrosima Mitic and Alejandra Ramirez Botella set the tone with a 7-5 win and entered the match ranked No. 44 in the ITA Division II women's rankings while improving to 8-2 on the season. Johanna Priedite and Cristina Granero Boj followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 2.
In singles play, the Griffons did not drop a set across five completed matches. Priedite led the way at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Mitic (No. 2), Granero Boj (No. 3), Claudia Pastor (No. 4), and Ella Gates (No. 5) each earned straight-set victories. Mila Larrieu added the seventh point with a default win at No. 6.
The Griffons have now won nine straight matches, continuing their strong run of form with another convincing performance in MIAA play.
