ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – No. 40 Griffon Tennis (15-3, 6-1 MIAA) closed out its home slate in dominant fashion Friday afternoon, sweeping Fort Hays State 7-0 at the Genesis Health Club.
The Griffons set the tone in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets or by default. Johanna Priedite led the way at No. 1 with a strong 6-0, 6-2 victory, while Jevrosima Mitic followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2. Cristina Granero Boj added a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 3, and Alejandra Ramirez delivered a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 4.
Mila Larrieu secured the point at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 win, and Claudia Pastor picked up the final singles point by default, giving MWSU full control of the match.
In doubles, the Griffons continued their dominance to complete the sweep. The nationally ranked duo of Jevrosima Mitic and Alejandra Ramirez Botella earned a 6-2 win at No. 1, while Claudia Pastor and Mila Larrieu added a 6-1 victory at No. 2. MWSU also claimed the No. 3 position by default.
With the win, the Griffons improve to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in MIAA play, finishing their home slate on a high note and continuing to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
