ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – No. 47 Griffon Tennis (13-2, 4-0 MIAA) picked up a ranked win on Saturday, defeating No. 41 Central Oklahoma (11-3, 3-1 MIAA) by a 4-3 final at Genesis Health Club.
MoWest battled back after dropping the doubles point, winning four singles matches to secure its 11th straight victory and remain unbeaten in MIAA play.
In singles, MoWest responded with a strong showing across the lineup.
Jevrosima Mitic evened the match with a straight-set win at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-1), while
Cristina Granero Boj followed with a three-set victory at No. 3 (6-4, 7-6 (7-4)) to give the Griffons momentum.
Claudia Pastor delivered another key point at No. 5 singles, rallying for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win.
Ella Gates clinched the match for Missouri Western at No. 6 singles, grinding out a three-set victory (6-2, 1-6, 6-2).
Central Oklahoma added wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, but the Griffons' depth proved to be the difference in the 4-3 decision.
