KEARNEY, Neb. – Griffon Tennis (3-2) delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, sweeping Midland (2-2) 7-0 in a neutral-site matchup at the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center.
MWSU controlled the match from the start, winning all three doubles contests to secure the early point. The duo of
Jevrosima Mitic and Alejandra Ramirez set the tone with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while
Johanna Priedite and
Claudia Pastor followed with a 6-0 win at No. 2.
Cristina Granero Boj and
Mila Larrieu completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 position.
The Griffons carried that momentum into singles play, claiming all six matches in straight sets or by retirement. Priedite earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles, while Granero Boj added a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2. Pastor dominated at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Ramirez secured another point with a 6-2, 6-1 result at No. 5. Larrieu rounded out the scoring with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.
At No. 3 singles,
Ella Gates battled to a 7-5 first-set win before her opponent retired, sealing the clean sweep for MoWest.
