ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Tennis (10-2, 1-0 MIAA) extended its winning streak to eight straight matches with a 4-0 victory over Southwest Baptist (1-10) on Tuesday afternoon at Genesis Health Club.
MoWest set the tone early, sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the opening point. Alejandra Ramirez and
Jevrosima Mitic led the way with a 6-1 win at No. 1, while
Johanna Priedite and
Cristina Granero Boj secured a 6-4 victory at No. 2.
Claudia Pastor and
Mila Larrieu completed the sweep with a 6-1 win at No. 3.
In singles play, the Griffons quickly sealed the match with three wins.
Jevrosima Mitic bounced back after dropping the first set to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.
Ella Gates delivered a dominant 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5, and
Mila Larrieu followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 to clinch the team win.
Additional singles matches were left unfinished after the clinch, with MWSU in strong control.
Johanna Priedite held a 6-4, 5-4 lead at No. 1 and was on the verge of a straight-set win.
Cristina Granero Boj responded after dropping the opening set, taking the second 7-5 and holding the advantage in the third set. At No. 4, Alejandra Ramirez claimed the first set 6-3 before a tight second set 5-7 pushed the match toward a deciding third set before play was halted.

Griffon Tennis continues its homestand on Thursday, April 2, hosting Arkansas-Fort Smith in MIAA action. First serve is set for 9 a.m. at Genesis Health Club in St. Joseph.
