ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Baseball (14-16, 9-10 MIAA) extended its winning streak to four games with a 12-2 run-rule victory over Newman (4-26, 2-18 MIAA) on Saturday at the Spring Sports Complex.

MoWest broke through in the second inning, scoring four runs behind RBI efforts from Dylan Coty and Ben Waliczek, along with two unearned runs to take early control. Newman answered with a solo home run in the third and added another run on a grounded out to cut the lead to 4-2.

The Griffons responded in the fourth as Miguel Cantu worked a walk and Waliczek scored on the wild pitch to push the lead to 5-2.

MoWest then broke the game open in the sixth inning. Waliczek delivered an RBI double, Jordan Austin added a sacrifice bunt RBI, and the Griffons capitalized on errors to plate four runs in the frame, extending the lead to 9-2.

In the seventh, Micah Kobuszewski stole home and Cantu later scored on a wild pitch to cap the scoring at 12-2.
