Baseball falls to UCO Friday, rubber match coming Saturday

Saturday's series finale set for 1 p.m.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Baseball (6-9, 1-4 MIAA) fell 9-5 on Friday to Central Oklahoma in the second game of a three-game series at the MWSU Spring Sports Complex.

Each team scored a run in the first inning, and then MoWest had a 2-1 lead in the second, thanks to a solo home run from Seth Winkler. UCO took the lead for good with a six-run frame in the fourth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Luke Stout.

UCO (10-6, 1-1 MIAA) led 9-3 after the fifth. The Griffons scratched across two runs in the seventh to get closer, but were held scoreless in the eighth and ninth.

Luke Parmentier went a season-best 4-of-5 at the plate with a double and triple, scoring three times. Micah Kobuszewski went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Jackson Parrill (0-2) made the start and took the loss, going three innings. He struck out three batters, but walked six and hit two more. Cale Coursey tossed 4.2 innings of scoreless relief for MoWest, striking out three and walking none.

The Griffons conclude the series with the Bronchos on Saturday with a decisive game three. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Griffon Sports Network (Varsity Network App, GoGriffons.com/listen) and avilable to watch on the MIAA Network.
