Men’s Basketball takes down Pittsburg State 78-70 on the road behind Henry’s career night

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Griffon Men's Basketball (16-9, 8-6 MIAA) earned a 78-70 road victory over the Pittsburg State (13-10, 7-6 MIAA) on Wednesday night at John Lance Arena, powered by a career-high performance from Ty Henry.

The first half featured a tightly contested battle, with neither team gaining much separation. The largest lead of the period was just five points when Pittsburg State moved ahead 22–17 at the 11:15 mark.

The Griffons quickly responded, using a 7–0 run to reclaim the lead. A Noah King layup at the 9:43 mark put MWSU back in front, 24–22.

MWSU carried that momentum into the break, taking a narrow 40–38 advantage into halftime.

The Griffons never trailed in the second half and built their largest lead of the night, a 10-point advantage at the 5:52 mark, going up 71-61 over the Gorillas. Pitt State trimmed the deficit to six with three minutes remaining, but Henry knocked down key free throws down the stretch to secure the 78-70 road victory for the Griffons.

Henry led the Griffons with a career-high of 25 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field, 2-of-4 from three-point range, and 7-of-8 at the free-throw line. He added three rebounds, two assists, and one block in 36 minutes.

Marko Pavlovic contributed 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds in 30 minutes of action.

Noah King recorded 15 points and a team-high 13 rebounds for a double-double. He also dished out four assists in 33 minutes.

MoWest shot 51.7 percent (30-of-58) from the field, 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from three-point range, and 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the free-throw line.

Pitt State finished the night shooting 41.8 percent (28-of-67) from the field, including 32.0 percent (8-of-25) from three-point range. The Gorillas also went 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from the free-throw line.
