ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Griffon soccer team returns to the road Friday, Oct. 9, traveling to Hays, Kan., for an MIAA matchup against Fort Hays State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 PM.
MoWest continues its conference schedule following a two-match homestand against No. 18 Central Missouri and Missouri Southern last weekend.
Friday's contest presents another opportunity for the Griffons to earn valuable points in the MIAA standings.
Last Time Out
MoWest (6-2-4, 3-2-1 MIAA) closed its two-match homestand with a 1-0 shutout victory over Missouri Southern on Sunday after falling 2-1 to No. 18 Central Missouri on Friday.
Against Missouri Southern, Kendall Knisley scored the game-winning goal in the 71st minute off assists from Cadence Dobberstein and Ava Smith. The goal marked Knisley's sixth of the season and 24th of her career.
Goalkeeper Morgan Byrd recorded five saves to earn her fifth shutout of the season and 12th of her career. The Griffon defense held Missouri Southern without a shot on goal in the second half.
Scouting Fort Hays State
Fort Hays State enters Friday's matchup with a 2-7-2 overall record and a 0-5-1 mark in MIAA play.
The Tigers are coming off a 1-1 draw against Newman on Sunday after falling 5-1 at Washburn on Friday. Fort Hays State is seeking its first conference victory of the season.
