Soccer opens MIAA Tournament play Sunday at No. 3 Pittsburg State

No. 6 seed Griffons begin postseason title defense on the road against No. 3 seed Gorillas

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The No. 6 seed MoWest women's soccer team will open postseason play on Sunday, Nov. 1, traveling to Pittsburg, Kan., to face No. 3 seed Pittsburg State in the quarterfinals of the 2026 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Griffon Soccer returns to postseason play as the defending MIAA Tournament champions. MoWest captured its first MIAA Women's Soccer Postseason Tournament title in program history in 2025 and will look to defend that championship in 2026.

The Griffons enter the postseason with an 8-3-7 overall record and a 5-3-4 mark in MIAA play following a 3-0 road victory over Northwest Missouri State in Wednesday's regular-season finale.

Last Time Out

MoWest closed out the 2026 regular season with a 3-0 shutout victory over Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday afternoon in Maryville, Mo.

The Griffons' defense recorded its seventh shutout of the season, while goalkeeper Morgan Byrd earned the 14th shutout of her career.

The victory improved MoWest to 8-3-7 overall and 5-3-4 in conference play heading into the postseason.

Despite the early deficit, MoWest held the Gorillas scoreless for the remainder of the contest. Goalkeeper Morgan Byrd finished with nine saves, while the Griffons recorded three shots, including one on goal.

Sunday's quarterfinal matchup will mark the second meeting between the two programs this season, with MoWest looking to reverse the regular-season result and advance in the MIAA Tournament.
